Are you a Certified Indoor Environmentalist? More of your potential clients are asking that question. Join over 3,000 people that have gone through this important course.
Whether you are looking for the latest research to enhance your IAQ business or just looking for a good fundamentals course, the Certified Indoor Environmentalist is for you. This intensive 2-day course includes an additional 2-days of online supplemental material, including a practice test to better prepare you for the Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) and Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) examinations. The course will also prepare people for the new CIE apprentice program. The CIE course will enable you to:
- Incorporate a full spectrum of contaminants into your IAQ assessments including mold, bacteria, VOCs, carbon monoxide, triggers to asthma and allergies, etc.
- Understand how building design, HVAC and material selection all influence the indoor environment
- Prevent, diagnose and resolve common IAQ problems
- Apply current industry standards and guidelines to help mitigate your risk

Details
The cost of the Certified Indoor Environmentalist course taken on-site is $895. Alternatively, you can take the entire CIE program online for $800. We offer a $125 discount to Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) members. For more information on IAQA memberships that start at $150 per year, visit www.iaqa.org and click on "Join IAQA".
To register now, click on CIE On-site and select from one of the upcoming dates. To register for the online class, click CIE Online.
The difference between the Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) and Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) designations relates to your years of experience. The exams pull from the same pool of questions and our preparatory course is the same for both. The CIE Apprentice program was started in 2006 for individuals with less than two years experience. Specific questions about your experience qualifying for the examinations must be directed to the American Indoor Air Quality Council.
You must register for the class and the examination separately. To register for the course you must click HERE and select a course date. To register for the exam, you must contact the American Indoor Air Quality Council at 800-942-0832 (www.iaqcouncil.org).
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for taking the Certified Indoor Environmentalist course but you must meet the following to qualify for the Council-Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) examination:
Applicants must possess one of the following combinations of two (2) years education and relevant field experience:
1. A post-secondary degree (AA or higher) in engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene or related field of science, with a minimum of one (1) year of documented field experience in indoor air quality.
2. No degree, with a minimum of two (2) years of documented field experience in indoor air quality. (high school diploma or GED required.)
As previously mentioned, there are different prerequisites for the CIEC and the CIE Apprentice.
